I invited Julie Mann to share a story of how KSB Hospital and our employee family participated in a community fundraiser. Julie was the team captain for the “Keeping Special Birthdays” team, one of two KSB affiliated teams. Thanks to all who participated and all who donated!

Many KSB employees, friends and family turned out for a successful Relay for Life event Friday night, which raised more than $82,000 to help researchers find a cure for cancer.

Due to the threatening weather the event was held indoors at the Dixon High School gym. However even the threat of inclement weather did not deter walkers from coming out and participating.  Many walked both inside the gym and around the track outside at times.

Everyone we know has in some way been touched by cancer.  As a survivor, I was able to join with several others who have fought and won their battle with cancer.  However, while we were able to celebrate, we know the war with cancer is far from over.

The Relay for Life event allows us to contribute financially to further the advancement of treatment, encourage those who are in the midst of the fight with cancer, remember those who have lost the battle and celebrate those who have fought cancer and survived.

As a key sponsor of the event KSB Hospital was represented by Dave Schreiner, who helped kick off the event.  We all can be proud of the fact that KSB provided $10,000 as a corporate contribution and the KSB teams raised close to $8,000.  Thank you also to Sue Hageman and John Reilly for all their time and effort in making this event a success!  And thanks to everyone who contributed to this worthy cause!
