KSB Hospital is excited to join many community organizations and small businesses as active supporters of this unique event.
With all the positives come a few challenges, some of which are unknown with a one-of-a-kind event like this. Parking, traffic, and Emergency Department volume are a few of these unknowns.
Kevin Marx is president of Dixon Main Street, the lead organization in this weekend’s festivities. This affords us an inside perspective on the weekend. Aaron Fox has attended all of the preparatory meetings to discuss logistics, learn from similar events elsewhere, and plan accordingly.
History tells us that the impact on our healthcare delivery system will be minimal. However, I encourage our management team to proactively consider the surge capacity that may be required for your scope of responsibility.
Actively communicate with your team. Know the resources readily available to you in the event they become needed. It is imperative that all management be easily reachable by cell phone for the entire weekend.
I thank you in advance for your flexibility and understanding as we experience some disruption in our typical traffic patterns, parking lot disruptions, and general sense of congestion downtown. The forecast shows sunshine and temperatures in the 70s, which means we’ll likely avoid weather-related complications.
