As I have discussed here, the healthcare industry continues to experience sweeping changes. I’m proud to say KSB Hospital has responded to these changes through substantial investments in our people and our technology, to ensure our ability to offer patients a healthcare experience that is second-to-none.
One of these recent technology investments includes a program that ties billing to our new electronic medical record, in an effort to streamline the entire patient experience. This software offers many benefits for our hospital by integrating our clinical and financial systems onto the same platform.
A new software system always brings new features and new challenges. As our Patient Financial Services and Information Technology teams worked to integrate our processes in to the new software, we ran into some issues that caused severe billing delays. We understand how frustrating these delays can be — in fact, we share your frustration — and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to our community members.
The good news is this: as we continue working to provide our patients with an optimal experience at KSB Hospital, we have already been able to successfully implement a number of improvements to our billing system to make things easier for patients. These improvements include:
• A “master bill” that consolidates all charges related to a service, giving a fuller picture and explanation for the cost of care
• An upgrade to the ability to pay bills online through our website, so patients can quickly and easily submit payment
• Extended hours of our patient financial services hotline, so patients can call at the most convenient time for them and speak to their assigned representative
• Billing information available on our dedicated webpage 24 hours a day
We appreciate your trust in KSB Hospital, and again, we apologize for any increased stress our billing difficulties may have caused you. Our goal is to continue to give you a reason to support your community hospital by providing world-class care, right here in your neighborhood.
