Thank you to Mt. Morris’s Mrs. Nelson

I am sharing with you, with her permission, a wonderful note I received from Nancy Nelson, a Mt. Morris resident, that describes her experience at KSB Hospital.  Congratutions to the entire KSB Family!

Dear Mr. Schreiner,

I am writing to express my family’s great appreciation to KSB for the excellent care given to me following my farm accident on January 7th.  The Mt. Morris EMT’s made the wise decision that I needed to be taken to the nearest trauma center.

I have to admit, when they told me they were taking me to KSB, I said “No, I need to go to Rockford.” I will not say that in the future.  Our entire experience was incredibly wonderful!  As soon as we reached the E.R., we were treated with prompt, exceptional, compassionate care!  I am afraid if I try to mention each person we came into contact with, I will miss someone.  Each and every person we interacted with was professional, kind and helpful!  I was terrified.  The E.R. team made me feel that they were going to do everything in their power to help me!  The next day, the head nurse from the E.R. stopped by my room to check on me and report to the E.R.  How kind and thoughtful!  Dr. Powers was incredible!  My family knew that he was thinking, researching and striving to make sure I received the best care for my full recovery!  (I presented the extra work for Dr. Powers that I was injured while working in an extremely dirty environment and I’m allergic to penicillin!)

Following surgery, I was on the 4th floor until January 10th.  Each nurse, CNA, lab technician, dietary employee, housekeeper and business office person was attentive, friendly and respectful.  My room was clean and attractive.  The hallways were clean and I appreciated the lovely sitting room on the 4th floor that faced the river.  The first floor hallway with the pictures of the board, staff and history of the hospital was very interesting.  Our daughter purchased several items from the gift shop, including a beautiful bouquet, an incredibly soft, warm bathrobe and an adult coloring book for me.  My friend purchased a lovely candle and bouquet from there as well.  My family thought the cafeteria was wonderful and enjoyed the food.  Our daughter felt very safe walking to the parking lot each night.

My family will continue to tell everyone who will listen to our exceptional experience! Since then, we have talked to many other people who have also expressed their appreciation for KSB!  We are truly blessed to have such a fine hospital so close to home!

We will always be thankful that, quite by “accident”, we were able to experience the exceptional care that KSB provides.

Thank you to each and every administrator, board member, doctor, nurse and employee for their dedication and service!

With great appreciation,

Nancy Nelson
