KSB Hospital’s Emergency Department Improves Performance

Nobody likes going to the Emergency Department.  When the need does arise, we want to move through the process as quickly as is safely possible.  Over the last few months a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and technicians at KSB Hospital have worked together to put the patient first.

Over three days, the team identified sixty improvements to help reach their goals of decreasing door-to-provider time and reduce the overall time patients are in the Emergency Department.

One of the major goals in Phase 1 was to reduce the door-to-provider time from 32 minutes to 18 minutes or less. As a result of the entire team’s relentless efforts over the last several months, the target median door-to-provider time of 18 minutes or less has been reached for the past 4 consecutive weeks.

I am excited about the sustainable results achieved by the team.  I am also proud of Drew Fenner,  Director of Project Improvement at KSB.  Way to go Team!
