I’m humbled by the outpouring of support for your family and your strength throughout the ordeal. You and your family remain in our thoughts and prayers.
I would just like to say how incredible my experience working for KSB has been for the last year and a half. I know you always hear “KSB is a family,” but I would just like to share how that statement really rings true.
On February 11, 2011 my family barely escaped with our lives when our house was consumed by a fire at 2:30 in the morning. One of my first calls was to Judy the nursing supervisor for the night. She must have notified Caring Friends and then the story must have spread like a wild fire because I received so many calls. Caring Friends was so quick to act that they were offering assistance even before the Red Cross. I still feel completely overwhelmed when I think of all the generosity of the KSB Family. KSB workers clothed my family, gave us monetary donations, gift cards, and furniture for our new place. Not to mention all the emotional support of everyone asking how we were doing. People I had only met a few times would walk up to me and hand me a check, bring in bags of clothes or pick up my lunch tab for weeks on end.
Without the support of my co-workers in Peds, and everyone else I honestly don’t know how we would have gotten through this difficult time. It has been so wonderful for my family to see the compassion of humanity. I only wish there was some way that I could properly thank everyone. There are just so many who were so generous! The only way I feel would be fitting is to “pay it forward.” I believe that is the true secret to the nature of the KSB family. Everyone is so wonderful at taking care of our patients because even if we have not been in their position, we can imagine what it would feel like to be in their place.
It really is the people at KSB that make the difference. I am so proud to work here. Please pass along this “THANK YOU EVERYONE!” for me.
