Hosting a Community Forum

You may have seen the signs or noticed a tour group walking around the hospital early this morning. The Administrative Team hosted a Community Forum in which local leaders joined us for a 7 a.m. breakfast and discussion of how KSB Hospital can best meet the needs of our community.
We were fortunate to hear from government officials, leaders of not-for-profits, business owners, and educators about what KSB Hospital can do to be the best place for patients to receive care and how we can contribute to building strong cities and towns.
They shared a great deal of information with us about what they like at KSB today and how we can work together to improve communication, education, public health and customer service.
We heard the challenges they face with rising healthcare costs, shared experiences with programs to promote healthy lifestyles, talked about economic development ideas, and exchanged ideas on community health improvement services.
The underlying message was this: This is your community and KSB Hospital is your hospital.
Only by working together can we improve our service, strengthen our community, and meet the challenges of the days ahead. Today’s forum was an exciting and productive step toward those goals.

"Community" is a powerful word that makes me think both of the town that KSB resides in but also of the group that works inside KSB walls. We are our own community. The strength of any community is the energy and focus of the people – the energy to keep working to improve the community while keeping a focus on the importance and value of each individual in the community. Any community achieves more if they work as a team, nurture the young, and strive to achieve more by not accepting substandard performance and effort. I have seen and encourage this inside and outside KSB walls.
