Your Senior Leaders hear from Consultant Partner Becky Quammen as she reveals the path to Meaningful Use Stage 2
The road to Meaningful Use Stage 2, a government-mandated program, is full of difficult decisions and risky maneuvers. On February 3rd your Administrative Staff had the plan displayed to them that will get us to where we need to be by the end of 2014.
Meaningful use sets specific objectives that eligible professionals and hospitals must achieve to qualify for Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Incentive Programs.
The term “Incentive Programs” suggests that KSB stands to gain financially by fully complying with the minimum requirements. That was true when we launched eSOAR on June 1, 2013. We received significant governmental assistance to upgrade our clinical technology.
The carrot in 2013 turns into a stick in 2014… KSB stands to lose revenue through Medicare deductions if we do not make the minimum progress towards Stage 2.
Sound complicated? It certainly is, and I’m keeping our patients first and providers second in every decision we make as we navigate the path. Trust that every decision starts with attempting to minimize the impact and keep us between the ditches.
