KSB’s Snow Angels

Working in healthcare can be a tough gig.  Most patients would rather be anywhere else than a hospital or a physician’s office.  We hurt people in the quest to make them feel better.  It’s expensive, and patients can, understandably, be demanding.

Add a foot of snow on a Sunday evening / Monday morning, and things get interesting.

And that’s when the KSB Family shows her true colors.

Doctors were picking up co-workers at their homes because they can’t get the car out of the driveway.  Nurses walking to work at 2:00 AM and staying until noon because that’s when her relief person was able to arrive.  Five workers spending the night at KSB so our patients would have someone here if they needed us.  Plant Operations guys go out in weather no one deserves to go out in.

All those things happened this week when Dixon received close to 12 inches of snow, and many roads were left impassable.

I’m proud of you every day, and even more so when crisis intervenes and you do whatever it takes to tend to those that entrust us with their care.

You’re rock stars, every one of you, and I love you for it.

My daughter is one of those rockstars! Not reporting for her shift at 11 that night was not an option. I’m very proud of her!
